Rural Water EPA Funding Update.
CRWA is asking for your help!! You may be aware that in 2011 Colorado Rural Water Association and all of the other state rural water associations across the United States lost crucial funding from the EPA that supported our training and our source water protection programs. These programs helped to bring training and support to small water systems across our state, many of which we were able to provide free of charge. The EPA’s new budget was recently signed into law (December 23, 2011) and Congress included a new provision that directs the agency to provide $15 million in technical assistance funding to non-profit organizations.
CRWA has been working with small systems for 30 years to help provide training and technical assistance. We are a non-profit organization that strives to offer our services to benefit the small systems that are the foundation of Colorado Rural Water Association. CRWA is working with National Rural Water to apply for the funding that EPA has been directed to award to non-profit organizations for training and technical assistance.
Congress directed the EPA to prioritize this funding to organizations that support small systems.
This is how you can help – CRWA is asking for letters of support from water systems across the State. We are asking each of you to write a letter of support on your system’s letterhead, addressed to the EPA Administrator and mail, fax or email them to CRWA before February 1st, 2012.
Mail - CRWA 176 W. Palmer Lake Drive,
Pueblo West, CO 81007
Fax - (719)-545-6788
Email - crwa@comcast.net
We have included an example of a letter of support both in (pdf) and (word) form below.

It is essential that the support letter be on your system’s letterhead, that it would include the date, your title and signature.
We want to thank you for your support and we look forward to continuing to provide small systems across the State with training and technical assistance made available in part by funding supplied by the EPA.
